And make mention (O Muhammad) in the Scripture of Abraham. Lo! he was a saint, a prophet. 41 Recall what time he said unto his father: O my father! wherefore worshippest thou that which heareth not and seeth not, nor availeth thee at all? 42 Father, I have been given some knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me: I shall guide you along a straight path. 43 Father! Do not worship Satan -- for, truly, Satan is a rebel against the Most Gracious One! 44 O My father! verily I fear that there may touch thee a torment from the Compassionate so that thou become to the Satan a companion. 45 But he replied: 'Do you shrink away from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if you do not cease I will stone you, so leave me for awhile' 46 He said, 'Peace be upon thee! I will ask my Lord to forgive thee; surely He is ever gracious to me. 47 "And I shall remain separated from you and all that you worship other than Allah and shall worship my Lord; possibly, by worshipping my Lord, I will not be amongst the unfortunate.” 48 Thereupon Abraham dissociated himself from his people and the deities they worshipped instead of Allah, and We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob and made each of them a Prophet; 49 And bestowed on them some of Our blessings, and gave them high renown. 50
