WITH ALL THIS, man [often] says, "What! Once I am dead, shall I again be brought forth alive?" 66 But does man not remember that We created him when he was nothing before? 67 So by your Lord, We shall assemble them and the devils – all of them – and bring them around hell, fallen on their knees. 68 from every party We will pluck out whichever of them was the most hardened in disdain of the Most Merciful. 69 Then, verily, We know best those who are most worthy of being burnt therein. 70 There is not one of you but will pass over it (Hell); this is with your Lord; a Decree which must be accomplished. 71 We shall then rescue the pious – and leave the unjust in it, fallen on their knees. 72 AS IT IS, whenever Our messages are conveyed to them in all their clarity, those who are bent on denying the truth are wont to say unto those who have attained to faith: "Which of the two kinds of man is in a stronger position and superior as a community?" 73 We have destroyed so many generations before them, who surpassed them in material power and splendour. 74 Say: "Ar-Rahman extends the life of those who are astray until they come to realise what had been promised them was either (physical) affliction or (the terror) of Resurrection. Then will they know who is worse in position, and who is weak in supporters. 75 Allah increaseth in right guidance those who walk aright, and the good deeds which endure are better in thy Lord's sight for reward, and better for resort. 76 Hast thou then seen the (sort of) man who rejects Our Signs, yet says: "I shall certainly be given wealth and children?" 77 What, has he observed the Unseen, or taken a covenant with the All-merciful? 78 No! We will record what he says and extend for him from the punishment extensively. 79 We shall inherit all that he boasts of, and he will come to Us all alone. 80 And they have taken (for worship) gods other than Allah, to give them power and glory! 81 Nay, but they will deny their worship of them, and become opponents unto them. 82
