In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta Ha 1 We have not sent down to you the Qur'an that you be distressed 2 But as a reminder unto him who feareth, 3 A revelation from Him Who created the earth and the high heavens, 4 the All-compassionate sat Himself upon the Throne; to Him belongs 5 To Him belongs what is in the heavens and on earth, and all between them, and all beneath the soil. 6 And if thou speakest aloud, then lo! He knoweth the secret (thought) and (that which is yet) more hidden. 7 God is the only Lord and to Him belong all the exalted Names. 8 AND HAS the story of Moses ever come within thy ken? 9 When he saw a fire, he said to his family: 'Stay here, for I can see a fire. Perhaps I can bring you a lighted torch or find at the fire guidance' 10 And when he came to it (the fire), he was called by name: "O Musa (Moses)! 11 "Verily! I am your Lord! So take off your shoes, you are in the sacred valley, Tuwa. 12 "I have chosen thee: listen, then, to the inspiration (sent to thee). 13 Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance. 14 "Behold, [although] I have willed to keep it hidden, the Last Hour is bound to come, so that every human being may be recompensed in accordance with what he strove for [in life]. 15 So let not him who believeth not therein and followeth his own desire keep thee away therefrom lest thou perish. 16 "And what is that in the right hand, O Moses?" 17 Moses answered: "This is my staff. I lean on it (when I walk), and with it I beat down leaves for my flock, and I have many other uses for it." 18 [Allah] said, "Throw it down, O Moses." 19 So he threw it down, and thereupon it was a snake, moving swiftly. 20 He said, “Pick it up and do not fear; We shall restore it to its former state.” 21 Put your hand under your armpit: it will come out [shining] white, without any blemish. This shall be another sign. 22 "That We may show you (some) of Our Greater Signs. 23 Go to Firon, surely he has exceeded all limits. 24

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
