In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Ta-Ha. 1 We have not sent down to you the Qur'an that you be distressed 2 but only as a reminder to him who tears, 3 a revelation from Him Who created the earth and the high heavens. 4 the All-compassionate sat Himself upon the Throne; to Him belongs 5 To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth, all that lies between them, and lies below the earth. 6 If you speak loudly; He has indeed knowledge of the secret and the hidden. 7 God, there is no deity but Him. His are the most excellent names. 8 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 9 When he saw a fire and said unto his folk: Lo! Wait! I see a fire afar off. Peradventure I may bring you a brand therefrom or may find guidance at the fire. 10 But when he came close to it, a voice called out: "O Moses! 11 Surely I am your Lord, therefore put off your shoes; surely you are in the sacred valley, Tuwa, 12 And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed: 13 I Am the only God. Worship Me and be steadfast in prayer to have My name always in your mind. 14 "Verily the Hour is coming - My design is to keep it hidden - for every soul to receive its reward by the measure of its Endeavour. 15 Do not let those who disbelieve in it and follow their desires bar you from it, or you will perish. 16 And what is in your right hand, O Moses?" 17 He replied, "It is my staff. I lean on it, and with it, I beat down the leaves for my flock; I also have other uses for it." 18 (Allah) said, "Throw it, O Moses!" 19 So he threw it down, and lo, it became a running serpent. 20 He said: Grasp it and fear not. We shall return it to its former state. 21 "And press your (right) hand to your (left) side, it will come forth white (and shining), without any disease as another sign, 22 That We may go on showing you Our greater signs. 23 "Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh)! Verily, he has transgressed (all bounds in disbelief and disobedience, and has behaved as an arrogant, and as a tyrant)." 24

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
