In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Ta Ha. 1 We have not revealed unto thee (Muhammad) this Qur'an that thou shouldst be distressed, 2 but only as a reminder to him who tears, 3 A revelation from He who created the earth and highest heavens, 4 the All-compassionate sat Himself upon the Throne; to Him belongs 5 To Him belongs what is in the heavens and on earth, and all between them, and all beneath the soil. 6 If you speak loudly; He has indeed knowledge of the secret and the hidden. 7 Allah - there is no god but He. His are the most excellent names. 8 Have you heard the story of Moses? 9 When he saw a fire he said to his family: "You wait here. I have seen a fire. I may haply be able to bring an ember from it, or find direction by the fire." 10 And when he reached it, he was called by name: O Moses! 11 Surely I am your Lord, therefore put off your shoes; surely you are in the sacred valley, Tuwa, 12 "I have chosen thee: listen, then, to the inspiration (sent to thee). 13 "Verily, I - I alone - am God; there is no deity save Me. Hence, worship Me alone, and be constant in prayer, so as to remember Me! 14 “The Last Day will surely come – it was close that I hide it from all – in order that every soul may get the reward of its effort.” (He revealed it to His Prophets, so that people may fear and get ready. The exact time is not revealed to the people.) 15 Do not let those who disbelieve in it and follow their desires bar you from it, or you will perish. 16 And what is this in your right hand, O Musa! 17 He answered: "It is my staff; I lean on it; and with it I beat down leaves for my sheep; and [many] other uses have I for it." 18 Said He, 'Cast it down, Moses!' 19 So he threw it down, and lo, it became a running serpent. 20 Allah said: take hold of it, and fear not; We shall restore it to its former state. 21 And face what is to come with patience, your hand will not be tarnished with blame: Another sign 22 “In order that We may show you Our great signs.” 23 "Go thou to Pharaoh, for he has indeed transgressed all bounds." 24

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
