T H (Taa Haa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta-Ha. 1 We did not bestow the Qur'an on thee from on high to make thee unhappy, 2 it is only a reminder for him who fears Allah; 3 A revelation from Him (Allah) Who has created the earth and high heavens. 4 The Beneficent God is dominant over the Throne (of the realm). 5 To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth, and all that lies between them, and underneath the soil. 6 If thou pronounce the word aloud, (it is no matter): for verily He knoweth what is secret and what is yet more hidden. 7 Allah! there is no god but He! To Him belong the most Beautiful Names. 8 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 9 When he saw a fire and said unto his folk: Lo! Wait! I see a fire afar off. Peradventure I may bring you a brand therefrom or may find guidance at the fire. 10 Then when he was come thereto, he was cried unto. O Musa! 11 I am your Lord. Take off your shoes, for you are in Towa, the sacred valley. 12 And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed [to you]. 13 Verily I am God; there is no god but I; therefore serve Me, and perform the prayer of My remembrance. 14 Verily the Hour (of the great change) is about to come. I keep it secret that every soul may be rewarded for its endeavour. 15 Therefore let not him who believes not in it and follows his low desires turn you away from it so that you should perish; 16 “And what is this in your right hand, O Moosa?” 17 He said, “This is my staff; I support myself on it, and I knock down leaves for my sheep with it, and there are other uses for me in it.” 18 He said, “Put it down, O Moosa! 19 He threw it, and behold! It was a snake, active in motion. 20 Said He: "Take hold of it, and fear not: We shall restore it to its former state. 21 And place your hand in your armpit, it will come forth shining white, without blemish. This is another Sign of Allah, 22 That We may show you of Our greater signs: 23 Go thou unto Pharaoh! Lo! he hath transgressed (the bounds). 24
