T H (Taa Haa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ TaHa. 1 We did not bestow the Qur'an on thee from on high to make thee unhappy, 2 but only as an exhortation to all who stand in awe [of God]: 3 a revelation from Him Who created the earth and the high heavens. 4 The Beneficent God is dominant over the Throne (of the realm). 5 Unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth, as well as all that is between them and all that is beneath the sod. 6 Be thou loud in thy speech, yet surely He knows the secret and that yet more hidden. 7 Allah! there is no god but He! To Him belong the most Beautiful Names. 8 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 9 When he saw a fire and said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire; perhaps I can bring you a torch or find at the fire some guidance." 10 When he came to it, a voice cried, 'Moses, 11 "Verily I am thy Lord! therefore (in My presence) put off thy shoes: thou art in the sacred valley Tuwa. 12 I have chosen you. So listen to what is being revealed. 13 "Verily, I am Allah: There is no god but I: So serve thou Me (only), and establish regular prayer for celebrating My praise. 14 "Behold, [although] I have willed to keep it hidden, the Last Hour is bound to come, so that every human being may be recompensed in accordance with what he strove for [in life]. 15 Hence, let not anyone who does not believe in its coming and follows [but] his own desires divert thee from [belief in] it, lest thou perish! 16 And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?" 17 He said: This is my staff whereon I lean, and wherewith I bear down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses. 18 The Lord said, "Moses, throw it on the ground". 19 He cast it down, and behold! It was a snake, moving quickly. 20 God said, "Take hold of it, and have no fear: We shall return it to its former state. 21 And place your hand in your armpit, it will come forth shining white, without blemish. This is another Sign of Allah, 22 That We may show you of Our greater signs: 23 And go to Pharaoh now for he has transgressed all bounds." 24
