'Lord' said Moses, 'expand my chest, 25 and ease my task for me. 26 Loosen the knot in my tongue, 27 That they may understand my speech, 28 "And appoint for me a helper from my family, 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 Strengthen my back by him, 31 "And make him share my task: 32 That we may hallow Thee oft. 33 and remember You much: 34 "For Thou art He that (ever) regardeth us." 35 God said, "You have been granted your request, Moses." 36 And indeed, another time, already We have shown thee favour, 37 "When We inspired your mother with that which We inspired. 38 "'Throw (the child) into the chest, and throw (the chest) into the river: the river will cast him up on the bank, and he will be taken up by one who is an enemy to Me and an enemy to him': But I cast (the garment of) love over thee from Me: and (this) in order that thou mayest be reared under Mine eye. 39 "When your sister went and said: 'Shall I show you one who will nurse him?' So We restored you to your mother, that she might cool her eyes and she should not grieve. Then you did kill a man, but We saved you from great distress and tried you with a heavy trial. Then you stayed a number of years with the people of Madyan (Midian). Then you came here according to the fixed term which I ordained (for you), O Musa (Moses)! 40 for I have chosen thee for Mine Own service. 41 Go with My signs, you and your brother, and do not be lax in remembering Me. 42 Go, both of you, unto Pharaoh. Lo! he hath transgressed (the bounds). 43 Then say to him a gentle saying; haply he may be admonished or he may fear. 44 They said: "O our Lord, we are really frightened lest he behave insolently with us or become violent." 45 He said: "Fear not: for I am with you: I hear and see (everything). 46 So, go to him, and say: 'Behold, both of us are the Messengers of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not chastise them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; and peace shall be for him who follows the true guidance. 47 Lo! it hath been revealed unto us that the doom will be for him who denieth and turneth away. 48 (Pharaoh) said: Who then is the Lord of you twain, O Moses? 49 'Our Lord' he replied, 'is He Who gave everything its creation and then guided it' 50 (The Pharaoh) said: "And what about the former generations?" 51 Musa said: the knowledge thereof is with my Lord in the Book; my Lord erreth not, nor He forgetteth. 52 He it is Who spread the earth for you; and made in it paths for you, and sent down water from the sky, and then through it We brought forth many species of diverse plants. 53 Eat and pasture your cattle: verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 54
