(Moses) said: "O my Lord! expand me my breast; 25 And ease for me my task 26 "And make loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech) [That occurred as a result of a brand of fire which Musa (Moses) put in his mouth when he was an infant]. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 16, Page 159]. 27 "So they may understand what I say: 28 and appoint for me, from my household, someone who will help me bear my burden - 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 Strengthen me through him 31 And let him share my task 32 So that we should glorify Thee much, 33 and remember Thee abundantly. 34 Indeed, You are of us ever Seeing." 35 He said: "Moses, your petition is granted. 36 We had already shown you favor 37 Remember when We inspired your mother with a certain inspiration 38 "'Put him into a chest, then cast it into the river. The river will cast it on to the bank, and there he shall be taken up by an enemy of Mine and his.' I showered My love on you so that you might be reared under My watchful eye. 39 "When your sister went and said: 'Shall I show you one who will nurse him?' So We restored you to your mother, that she might cool her eyes and she should not grieve. Then you did kill a man, but We saved you from great distress and tried you with a heavy trial. Then you stayed a number of years with the people of Madyan (Midian). Then you came here according to the fixed term which I ordained (for you), O Musa (Moses)! 40 And I have attached thee to Myself. 41 "Go forth, [then,] thou and thy brother, with My messages, and never tire of remembering Me: 42 Then go to the Pharaoh as he has become exceedingly rebellious. 43 And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allah]." 44 They said, "Our Lord, indeed we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress." 45 He said: Fear not. Lo! I am with you twain, Hearing and Seeing. 46 So, go to him, and say: 'Behold, both of us are the Messengers of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not chastise them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; and peace shall be for him who follows the true guidance. 47 'Truly, it has been revealed to us that the torment will be for him who denies [believes not in the Oneness of Allah, and in His Messengers, etc.], and turns away.'(from the truth and obedience of Allah)" 48 (Firon) said: And who is your Lord, O Musa? 49 Moses replied, "Our Lord is He who has given everything its form, then guided it." 50 He said: Then what is the state of the former generations? 51 [Moses] answered: "Knowledge thereof rests with my Sustainer [alone, and is laid down] in His decree; my Sustainer does not err, and neither does He forget." 52 HE IT IS who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has traced out for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, and [who] sends down waters from the sky: and by this means We bring forth various kinds of plants. 53 Do you eat, and pasture your cattle! Surely in that are signs for men possessing reason. 54
