He said: my Lord! expand for me my breast. 25 And make my mission easy. 26 and my tongue fluent 27 so that they may understand me. 28 Appoint for me of my folk a familiar, 29 Let it be my brother Aaron 30 To strengthen me 31 “And make him a partner in my task.” 32 that we may abundantly extol Your glory; 33 and remember Thee without cease! 34 Surely You know us well." 35 He said: "Moses, your petition is granted. 36 Already another time We favoured thee, 37 When We inspired unto thy mother that which We inspired, 38 "Cast him into the ark, and cast him into the river, and let the river throw him up on the shore. An enemy of Mine and his shall take him." And I loaded on thee love from Me, and to be formed in My sight, 39 Your sister went (to them) and said: 'Shall I guide you to one who will nurse him' And so We restored you to your mother, so that her eyes might rejoice and that she might not sorrow. And when you killed a soul We saved you from grief and then We tried you with many trials. You stayed among the people of Midian for a number of years, and then, Moses, you came here according to a decree. 40 And I have chosen you for Myself: 41 So go forth, both you and your brother, with My Signs, and do not slacken in remembering Me. 42 Go, both of you, unto Pharaoh. Lo! he hath transgressed (the bounds). 43 Both of you must speak with him in a gentle manner so that perhaps he may come to himself or have fear (of God)." 44 'O our Lord' both said, 'We fear lest he may be excessive against us or become insolent' 45 [Allah] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see. 46 So go ye unto him and say: Lo! we are two messengers of thy Lord. So let the children of Israel go with us, and torment them not. We bring thee a token from thy Lord. And peace will be for him who followeth right guidance. 47 ‘It has indeed been revealed to us that the punishment is upon the one who denies and turns away.’” 48 [But when God's message was conveyed unto Pharaoh,] he said: "Who, now, is this Sustainer of you two, O Moses?" 49 He replied: "Our Sustainer is He who gives unto every thing [that exists] its true nature and form, and thereupon guides it [towards its fulfilment]. 50 Pharaoh asked, "What about the previous generations?" 51 Said Moses, 'The knowledge of them is with my Lord, in a Book; my Lord goes not astray, nor forgets -- 52 It is God who has made the earth as a cradle for you with roads for you to travel. He has sent water from the sky to produce various pairs of plants. 53 Eat, [then, of this produce of the soil,] and pasture your cattle [thereon]. In all this, behold, there are messages indeed for those who are endowed with reason: 54
