'Lord, open my breast,' said Moses, 25 And make my affair easy to me, 26 Loosen the knot in my tongue, 27 so that they may understand my speech, 28 and appoint for me, from my household, someone who will help me bear my burden - 29 Aaron my brother 30 Increase through him my strength 31 "And make him share my task: 32 That we may glorify Thee much 33 and remember you often. 34 "For Thou art He that (ever) regardeth us." 35 He said: "Moses, your petition is granted. 36 We had already shown you favor 37 "When We inspired your mother with that which We inspired. 38 "Cast him into the ark, and cast him into the river, and let the river throw him up on the shore. An enemy of Mine and his shall take him." And I loaded on thee love from Me, and to be formed in My sight, 39 [And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses. 40 I have chosen you for Me. 41 go therefore, thou and thy brother; with My signs, and neglect not to remember Me. 42 Go, both of you, to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 43 Speak to him with gentle words; perhaps he will ponder or fear' 44 They (Moses and Aaron) said: "Our Lord! We fear lest he hasten with insolence against us, or lest he transgress all bounds." 45 He said: "Fear not: for I am with you: I hear and see (everything). 46 So go you both to Pharaoh, and say, "We are the Messengers of thy Lord, so send forth with us the Children of Israel and chastise them not; we have brought thee a sign from thy Lord; and peace be upon him who follows the guidance! 47 It has been revealed to us that punishment will befall him who denies and turns away. 48 The Pharaoh asked them, "Who is your Lord?" 49 He said: Our Lord is He Who gave to everything its creation, then guided it (to its goal). 50 Pharaoh asked: "Then, what is the state of the former generations?" 51 Moses replied, "The knowledge about it is with my Lord in the Book. My Lord is free from error and forgetfulness. 52 He it is Who spread the earth for you; and made in it paths for you, and sent down water from the sky, and then through it We brought forth many species of diverse plants. 53 Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence. 54
