He said: O my Lord! Expand my breast for me, 25 And ease for me my task 26 And loose the knot from my tongue, 27 so that they might fully understand my speech, 28 and appoint for me a helper from among my family, 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 Strengthen my back by him, 31 and let him share my task, 32 "That we may glorify You much, 33 And may make mention of Thee oft. 34 Verily, You have always watched over us." 35 Said He, 'Thou art granted, Moses, thy petition. 36 Already another time We favoured thee, 37 Remember when We inspired your mother with a certain inspiration 38 Saying! cast him in the ark, and cast him into the river, and the river will throw him on the bank, and then an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his will take him up. And I cast on thee love from Me in order that thou mayest be formed under Mine eye. 39 Then your sister followed you, and said (to the people who had retrieved the child): 'Should I guide you to a person who can nurse him?' We thus brought you back to your mother that her heart may be cheered, and she may not grieve. (Remember) when you killed a man We saved you from anguish; and tested and steeled you (in other ways). Afterwards you sojourned for several years with the people of Midian; then you came up to the measure, 40 I have chosen you for Myself. 41 Go you and your brother with My communications and be not remiss in remembering Me; 42 Go to Pharaoh, for he has become insolent. 43 Speak to him with gentle words; perhaps he will ponder or fear' 44 The two [brothers] said: "O our Sustainer! Verily, we fear lest he act hastily with regard to us, or lest he [continue to] transgress all bounds of equity." 45 He said: "Have no fear. I am with you, hearing and seeing all. 46 Go, then; you two unto him and say, 'Behold, we are apostles sent by thy Sustainer: let, then, the children of Israel go with us, and cause them not to suffer [any longer]. We have now come unto thee with a message from thy Sustainer; and [know that His] peace shall be [only] on those who follow [His] guidance: 47 It has been revealed to us that chastisement shall light upon him who cries lies and turns his back." 48 He asked: "Who then is that Lord of yours, O Moses?" 49 (Moses) said: "Our Lord is He who gave everything its natural form and directed it." 50 He said: Then what is the state of the former generations? 51 Moses said, "My Lord alone has knowledge of that, recorded in a Book. My Lord neither errs nor forgets." 52 It is He who has made for you the earth as a cradle and threaded roads for you and sends down water from the sky with which We bring forth every kind of plant. 53 Eat and pasture your cattle; most surely there are signs in this for those endowed with understanding. 54
