To Moses we also revealed: 'Set forth with My worshipers by night and strike for them a dry path in the sea. Do not fear that you will be overtaken, neither be afraid' 77 And Firon followed them with his armies, so there came upon them of the sea that which came upon them. 78 The Pharaoh had led his people astray, and did not rightly guide them. 79 Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemies and We made a covenant with you on the right side of the Mount. We sent down manna and quails for you, 80 'Eat of the good things with which We have provided you and do not transgress therein lest My Anger should fall upon you, and upon whosoever My Anger falls has assuredly fallen, 81 Yet I am gracious to him who repents and believes, and does the right, and follows the straight path. 82 ۞ And what caused you to hasten from your people, O Musa? 83 Moses replied, "They are just behind me. I came earlier to seek Your pleasure". 84 Said He, 'We have tempted thy people since thou didst leave them. The Samaritan has misled them into error.' 85 With great anger and sorrow, Moses returned to his nation. 'My nation' he said, 'did your Lord not make you a fine promise? Did the time of the covenant seem long to you? Or did you desire that the anger of your Lord should fall upon you so that you failed in your coming to my appointment' 86 They said: "We broke not the promise to thee, as far as lay in our power: but we were made to carry the weight of the ornaments of the (whole) people, and we threw them (into the fire), and that was what the Samiri suggested. 87 He therefore made a calf for them – a lifeless body, making sounds like a cow – so they said, “This is your God and the God of Moosa; whereas Moosa has forgotten.” 88 Did they not see that it could not return them a word (for answer), and that it had no power either to harm them or to do them good? 89
