And certainly Haroun had said to them before: O my people! you are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah, therefore follow me and obey my order. 90 They had said: "We will not abandon this cult, but we will devote ourselves to it until Moses returns to us." 91 But (Moses) said: "O Aaron, when you saw that they had gone astray, what hindered you 92 so that thou didst not follow after me? Didst thou then disobey my commandment?' 93 (Aaron) replied: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard nor by (the hair of) my head! Truly I feared lest thou shouldst say, 'Thou has caused a division among the children of Israel, and thou didst not respect my word!'" 94 He said: What was then your object, O Samiri? 95 He said: l saw that which they saw not; so I seized a handful from the footstep of the messenger, and then cast it; thus my soul embellished the affair to me. 96 (Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say, 'touch me not'; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail: Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!" 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 (O Muhammad), thus do We recount to you the events of the past, and We have bestowed upon you from Ourself an admonition. 99 If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of judgment; 100 They will abide in that (state in the Fire of Hell), and evil indeed will it be that load for them on the Day of Resurrection; 101 The Day when the Trumpet will be sounded: that Day, We shall gather the sinful, blear-eyed (with terror). 102 and they shall murmur among themselves: 'You have stayed away but ten (days and nights)' 103 We know well what they will say. The most just among them in the matter will declare: 'You have stayed away but one day' 104
