Aaron had already told them, "O my people! You are only being tested by this. Your Lord is the All Merciful, so follow me and obey my command." 90 They had said: "We will not abandon this cult, but we will devote ourselves to it until Moses returns to us." 91 Moses said, 'What prevented thee, Aaron, when thou sawest them in error, 92 From coming after me? Did you not disobey my command?" (And Moses pulled him by the hair). 93 Answered [Aaron]: "O my mother's son! Seize me not by my beard, nor by my head! Behold, I was afraid lest [on thy return] thou say, 'Thou hast caused a split among the children of Israel, and hast paid no heed to my bidding!" 94 Musa said: what was thy object, O Samiri? 95 He replied: 'I saw what they did not see and seized a handful of dust from the foot print of the messenger and so I cast it; this my soul prompted me to do' 96 'Begone! Your lot in this life is to cry: "untouchable!' said he (Moses). 'An appointment awaits you that you cannot fail to keep. Look at your god which you clung to indeed we will burn it and scatter its ashes upon the sea' 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 Thus do We relate to you (some) of the news of what has gone before; and indeed We have given to you a Reminder from Ourselves. 99 Whoever turns away from it (this Quran i.e. does not believe in it, nor acts on its orders), verily, they will bear a heavy burden (of sins) on the Day of Resurrection, 100 which they shall bear forever. It will be a grievous burden for them on the Day of Judgement, 101 on the Day when the trumpet is blown: for on that Day We will assemble all such as had been lost in sin, their eyes dimmed [by terror,] 102 They shall consult together secretly: You did tarry but ten (centuries). 103 We are most knowing of what they say when the best of them in manner will say, "You remained not but one day." 104
