Aaron had indeed told them earlier: "O my people, you are being only misled with this. Surely your Lord is Ar-Rahman. So follow me and obey my command." 90 They said "So long as Moses does not come back we are not going to give it up, and we will remain devoted to it." 91 Moses said to Aaron, "What prevented you, when you saw that they had gone astray, 92 From coming after me? Did you not disobey my command?" (And Moses pulled him by the hair). 93 Aaron answered: "Son of my mother! Do not seize me with my beard, nor by (the hair of) my head. I feared that on returning you might say: 'You sowed discord among the Children of Israel, and did not pay heed to my words.'" 94 [Musa (Moses)] said: "And what is the matter with you. O Samiri? (i.e. why did you do so?)" 95 He answered: "I saw what the people did not see. So I took a handful of dust from the trail of the Messenger, and I flung it (into the fire). Thus did my mind prompt me." 96 (Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say, 'touch me not'; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail: Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!" 97 Your God is only the One God; there is no god, but He alone who in His knowledge embraces everything.' 98 Thus, [O Muhammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded. And We have certainly given you from Us the Qur'an. 99 If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of judgment; 100 they will abide in this [state,] and grievous for them will be the weight [of that burden] on the Day of Resurrection 101 The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed. 102 In whispers will they speak to each other (saying): "You stayed not longer than ten (days)." 103 We know well what they will say when the most upright among them will say: "You did not tarry more than a day." 104
