And Harun (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They said, “We will continue to squat* before it, till Moosa returns to us.” (* Continue worshipping it.) 91 (Moses) said: "O Aaron! what kept thee back, when thou sawest them going wrong, 92 Did you disobey my orders?" 93 He said: O son of my mother! Clutch not my beard nor my head! I feared lest thou shouldst say: Thou hast caused division among the Children of Israel, and hast not waited for my word. 94 (Moses) said: And what hast thou to say, O Samiri? 95 He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." 96 Moses said, "Begone! It shall be your lot to say throughout your life, "Do not touch me," and you will be faced with a fate from which there will be no escape. Now look at your deity to which you have become so devoted: we shall burn it up, and then scatter it into the sea. 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 Thus relate We unto thee (Muhammad) some tidings of that which happened of old, and We have given thee from Our presence a reminder. 99 Whoever turns away from it will surely carry a burden on the Day of Judgement, 100 [Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load - 101 The day the trumpet blast is sounded We shall raise the sinners blind, 102 whispering one to another, 'You have tarried only ten nights.' 103 [But] We know best what they will be saying when the most perceptive of them shall say: "You have spent [there] but one day!" 104
