When We told the angels to prostrate before Adam they all obeyed except Iblis (satan) who refused. 116 So We said, "O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so you would suffer. 117 Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein or be unclothed. 118 “And that you never feel thirsty nor hot sunshine hurt you.” 119 Then Satan whispered to him saying, 'Adam, shall I point thee to the Tree of Eternity, and a Kingdom that decays not?' 120 So the two of them ate of it, and their shameful parts revealed to them, and they took to stitching upon themselves leaves of the Garden. And Adam disobeyed his Lord, and so he erred. 121 Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him with forgiveness, and gave him guidance. 122 (Allah) said:"Get you down (from the Paradise to the earth), both of you, together, some of you are an enemy to some others. Then if there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My Guidance shall neither go astray, nor fall into distress and misery. 123 And whosoever turneth away from My admonition, for him verily will be a livelihood shrunken, and We shall raise him up on the Day of Judgment sightless. 124 He will say: "O my Lord! why hast Thou raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)?" 125 He (Allah) will say: 'It is so, Our verses came to you and you forgot them. So this Day you are forgotten' 126 For, thus shall We recompense him who wastes his own self and does not believe in his Sustainer's messages: and indeed, the suffering [of such sinners] in the life to come shall be most severe and most enduring! 127 Then, has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence. 128
