And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves to Adam." They prostrated (all) except Iblis (Satan), who refused. 116 Then We said: "O Adam! verily, this is an enemy to thee and thy wife: so let him not get you both out of the Garden, so that thou art landed in misery. 117 Behold, it is provided for thee that thou shalt not hunger here or feel naked, 118 And you (will) suffer not from thirst therein nor from the sun's heat. 119 But Satan seduced him, saying: "Adam! Shall I direct you to a tree of eternal life and an abiding kingdom?" 120 In the result, they both ate of the tree, and so their nakedness appeared to them: they began to sew together, for their covering, leaves from the Garden: thus did Adam disobey his Lord, and allow himself to be seduced. 121 Thereafter his Lord accepted him, and relented toward him, and guided him. 122 He said: "Get ye down, both of you,- all together, from the Garden, with enmity one to another: but if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from Me, whosoever follows My Guidance, will not lose his way, nor fall into misery. 123 "But whosoever turns away from My Message, verily for him is a life narrowed down, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment." 124 He shall say, 'O my Lord, why hast thou raised me blind, and I was wont to see?' 125 The Lord will say, "This is true. But just as you forgot Our revelations that had come to you, so, too, are you forgotten on this day." 126 And thus do We requite him who transgresses beyond bounds [i.e. commits the great sins and disobeys his Lord (Allah) and believes not in His Messengers, and His revealed Books, like this Quran, etc.], and believes not in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, and the torment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting. 127 Do they not learn a lesson from Our destruction of many generations before them in whose dwelling-places they walk about? Surely in this are signs for men of understanding. 128
