Recall when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam"; all prostrated themselves save Iblis. He refused. 116 So We said: O Adam! This is an enemy to you and to your wife; therefore let him not drive you both forth from the garden so that you should be unhappy; 117 Verily it is thine that thou shalt not hunger therein nor go naked. 118 thirst, or exposure to the hot Sun." 119 But Satan seduced him, saying: "Adam! Shall I direct you to a tree of eternal life and an abiding kingdom?" 120 In the result, they both ate of the tree, and so their nakedness appeared to them: they began to sew together, for their covering, leaves from the Garden: thus did Adam disobey his Lord, and allow himself to be seduced. 121 Then his Lord chose him, so He turned to him and guided (him). 122 [Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise - all, [your descendants] being enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter]. 123 “And the one who turned away from My remembrance – for him is a confined existence, and We shall raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection.” 124 He will say: My Lord! Wherefor hast Thou gathered me (hither) blind, when I was wont to see? 125 (God) will say: "Because Our signs came to you, but you disregarded them. So shall We disregard you this day." 126 Thus We requite him who trespasseth and believeth not in the signs of his Lord, and surely the torment of the Hereafter is most severe and most lasting. 127 Do they not learn a lesson from Our destruction of many generations before them in whose dwelling-places they walk about? Surely in this are signs for men of understanding. 128
