And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves to Adam." They prostrated (all) except Iblis (Satan), who refused. 116 Therefor we said: O Adam! This is an enemy unto thee and unto thy wife, so let him not drive you both out of the Garden so that thou come to toil. 117 It is (vouchsafed) unto thee that thou hungerest not therein nor art naked, 118 Nor thirst nor exposure to the sun." 119 Then Satan whispered to him; he said, "O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate?" 120 Then the two of them ate the fruit of that tree and their shameful parts became revealed to each other, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves from the Garden. Thus Adam disobeyed his Lord and strayed into error. 121 Then his Lord chose him, and inclined towards him with His mercy, and guided him. 122 God then told them, "Get out of here all of you; you are each other's enemies. When My guidance comes to you, those who follow it will not go astray nor will they endure any misery. 123 but whosoever turns away from My remembrance, his life shall be narrow and on the Day of Resurrection We shall raise him blind' 124 He shall say, 'O my Lord, why hast thou raised me blind, and I was wont to see?' 125 (God) will say: "Because Our signs came to you, but you disregarded them. So shall We disregard you this day." 126 Thus do We reward him who is prodigal and believeth not the revelations of his Lord; and verily the doom of the Hereafter will be sterner and more lasting. 127 Did they not find any guidance in the fact that We destroyed many nations in whose ruined dwelling-places they now walk about? Surely there are many Signs in them for people endowed with wisdom. 128
