The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ CLOSER DRAWS unto men their reckoning: and yet they remain stubbornly heedless [of its approach]. 1 There comes not to them a new reminder from their Lord but they hear it while they sport, 2 In sport being their hearts. And those who do wrong keep secret their private discourse this is but a human being like unto yourselves; will ye then betake yourselves to magic while ye know? 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 Nay, say they, (these are but) muddled dreams; nay, he hath but invented it; nay, he is but a poet. Let him bring us a portent even as those of old (who were Allah's messengers) were sent (with portents). 5 Not one city that We destroyed before them believed; what then, will they not believe? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have bestowed upon you a Book that mentions you. Do you not understand? 10
