The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ CLOSER DRAWS unto men their reckoning: and yet they remain stubbornly heedless [of its approach]. 1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 He (Muhammad SAW) said: "My Lord knows (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower." 4 Nay, but they say: 'A hotchpotch of nightmares! Nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet! Now therefore let him bring us a sign, even as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers.' 5 The people of the town whom We had destroyed also had no faith. Will these people then believe in God? 6 Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. 7 And We did not make them bodies not eating the food, and they were not to abide (forever). 8 Then We made good unto them the promise; so We delivered them and those whom We willed, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
