The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' 4 They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." 5 (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? 6 (O Muhammad), even before you We never sent any other than human beings as Messengers, and to them We sent revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 We then fulfilled the promise to them, therefore rescued them and whomever We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand? 10
