The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The people's day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. 1 Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, 2 With their hearts occupied (with evil things) those who do wrong, conceal their private counsels, (saying): "Is this (Muhammad SAW) more than a human being like you? Will you submit to magic while you see it?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 Nay, but they say: 'A hotchpotch of nightmares! Nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet! Now therefore let him bring us a sign, even as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers.' 5 (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? 6 For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" 7 And We did not make them bodies not eating the food, and they were not to abide (forever). 8 In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
