The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 He says: 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.' 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? 6 Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 Then We fulfilled Our promise to them and We saved them and those with them whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
