The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! 1 There comes not to them a new reminder from their Lord but they hear it while they sport, 2 their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' 3 The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
