The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 With hearts preoccupied. And they confer in secret. The wrong-doers say: Is this other than a mortal like you? Will ye then succumb to magic when ye see (it)? 3 He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? 6 Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. 7 We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
