The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reckoning for mankind is drawing near, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it, but do not take it seriously; 2 Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? 3 Say: "My Sustainer knows whatever is spoken in heaven and on earth; and He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing." 4 They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." 5 Not one of the communities that We destroyed in bygone times would ever believe [their prophets]: will these, then, [be more willing to] believe? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 We then fulfilled the promise to them, therefore rescued them and whomever We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense? 10
