The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord they barely heed it and remain immersed in play, 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? 6 And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations – therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. 7 Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We made good unto them the promise; so We delivered them and those whom We willed, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 [O MEN!] We have now bestowed upon you from on high a divine writ containing all that you ought to bear in mind will you not, then, use your reason? 10
