The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; 1 No mention comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 Nay, but they say: 'A hotchpotch of nightmares! Nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet! Now therefore let him bring us a sign, even as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers.' 5 Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We were true to the promise, We saved them together with those whom We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
