The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 their hearts set on passing delights; yet they who are [thus] bent on wrongdoing conceal their innermost thoughts [when they say to one another,] "Is this [Muhammad] anything but a mortal like yourselves? Will you, then, yield to [his] spellbinding eloquence with your eyes open?" 3 He said: My Lord knows what is spoken in the heaven and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe? 6 (O Muhammad), even before you We never sent any other than human beings as Messengers, and to them We sent revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 And We did not create them without bodies so they would not eat food – nor that they abide on earth forever. 8 Then We fulfilled Our promise to them and We saved them and those with them whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
