The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 Their hearts are involved in play; and the unjust secretly conferred, “What is he, except another a human like you?! So do you follow magic although you have perceived?” 3 Say: "My Sustainer knows whatever is spoken in heaven and on earth; and He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing." 4 Some say: 'No, it is only mixed dreams' 'No, he has forged it himself', or, 'no, he is a poet! Let him bring us a sign, just as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers' 5 Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe? 6 (O Muhammad), even before you We never sent any other than human beings as Messengers, and to them We sent revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. 8 Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
