The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reckoning for mankind is drawing near, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing, 2 their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" 3 Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe? 6 Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. 7 We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We fulfilled the promise We had made to them: We rescued them and those whom We wished, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. 9 We have indeed sent down towards you a Book, in which is your repute; so do you not have sense? 10
