The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; 1 no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing, 2 With hearts preoccupied. And they confer in secret. The wrong-doers say: Is this other than a mortal like you? Will ye then succumb to magic when ye see (it)? 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Nay, but they say: 'A hotchpotch of nightmares! Nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet! Now therefore let him bring us a sign, even as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers.' 5 Not one township that We destroyed before them believed. Would they, then, believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 And We did not create them without bodies so they would not eat food – nor that they abide on earth forever. 8 Then We made good unto them the promise; so We delivered them and those whom We willed, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
