Do not these unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were an integrated mass, then We split them and made every living thing from water? Will they not believe even then? 30 And We have made great mountains in the earth lest it might be convulsed with them, and We have made in it wide ways that they may follow a right direction. 31 We made the sky above them as a well-guarded ceiling, but they have neglected the evidence (of Our existence) therein. 32 And He it is Who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all (orbs) travel along swiftly in their celestial spheres. 33 We have not granted everlasting life to any human being before you; then if you [Muhammad] should die, will they live forever? 34 Every soul has to experience the taste of death. We test you with both hardships and blessings. In the end you will all return to Us. 35 And when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who insults your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers. 36 Man is hasty by nature. I shall certainly show you My Signs. Do not ask Me to be hasty. 37 And they say: when cometh this torment if ye are truth-tellers! 38 If only the unbelievers knew of the Hour when they shall not be able to keep off the Fire from their faces, nor from their backs; nor shall they be helped. 39 Nay, it shall come on them all of a sudden and cause them to become confounded, so they shall not have the power to avert it, nor shall they be respited. 40 They mocked the Messengers who were sent before you; thus, the torment which they had ridiculed encompassed them all. 41
