۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They said, “We found our forefathers worshipping them.” 53 Said he: "Indeed, you and your forefathers have obviously gone astray!" 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!" 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
