۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said: Aye! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth Who created them, and as to that I am of the witnesses. 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 They said: 'Then bring him here so that the people may see, so that they may bear witness' 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
