۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said: "Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of those who play about?" 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then they thought and observed: "Surely you are yourselves unjust." 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
