۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
