۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 Abraham said to himself, "By God! I will devise a plan against their idols when they are away." 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 and made them leaders who would guide [others] in accordance with Our behest: for We inspired them [with a will] to do good works, and to be constant in prayer, and to dispense charity: and Us [alone] did they worship. 73 To Lot, We gave judgment and knowledge and saved him from the village that had been committing corrupt deeds; for they were an evil nation and were debauched. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
