۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
