۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 and made them leaders who would guide [others] in accordance with Our behest: for We inspired them [with a will] to do good works, and to be constant in prayer, and to dispense charity: and Us [alone] did they worship. 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 We encompassed him in Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
