۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They answered: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He answered: "Nay, but your [true] Sustainer is the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth - He who has brought them into being: and I am one of those who bear witness to this [truth]!" 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 They said: 'Then bring him here so that the people may see, so that they may bear witness' 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
