1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said: Aye! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth Who created them, and as to that I am of the witnesses. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
