And (remember) Nuh (Noah), when he cried (to Us) aforetime. We listened to his invocation and saved him and his family from great distress. 76 and We helped him against the people who cried lies to Our signs; surely they were an evil people, so We drowned them all together. 77 And Dawood and Sulaiman when they gave judgment concerning the field when the people's sheep pastured therein by night, and We were bearers of witness to their judgment. 78 We made Solomon understand the case, and bestowed on each wisdom and knowledge, We subdued the al-jibal (mountains) with David to sing Our praises, and at-tair (birds). It is We who did it. 79 And We taught him how to make garments [of God-consciousness] for you, [O men,] so that they might fortify you against all that may cause you fear: but are you grateful [for this boon]? 80 And to Sulaiman (Solomon) (We subjected) the wind strongly raging, running by his command towards the land which We had blessed. And of everything We are the All-Knower. 81 And of the rebellious people there were those who dived for him and did other work besides that, and We kept guard over them; 82 ۞ We bestowed (the same wisdom, judgement and knowledge) upon Job. Recall, when he cried to his Lord: "Behold, disease has struck me and You are the Most Merciful of those that are merciful." 83 We therefore heard his prayer and removed the adversity that had afflicted him, and We gave him his family and in addition bestowed along with them a similar number, by mercy from Ourselves – and an advice for the people who worship. 84 Remember Ishmael and Idris and Dhul Kifl: they were all patient and steadfast. 85 And We brought them in unto Our mercy. Lo! they are among the righteous. 86 Dhun Nun went away in anger and thought that We would never have power over him, but in darkness he cried, "Lord, You are the Only God whom I glorify. I have certainly done wrong to myself (so forgive me)". 87 So We answered him, and We delivered him from the distress, and Thus do We deliver the believers. 88 Zachariah prayed, "Lord, do not leave me alone without offspring, although you are the best heir". 89 So We answered him, and We bestowed on him Yahya and We made sound for him his spouse. Verily they were wont to vie with one another in good deeds and to call upon us with longing and dread, and they were ever before us meek. 90 And she who was chaste, therefor We breathed into her (something) of Our Spirit and made her and her son a token for (all) peoples. 91 Lo! this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me. 92 But they split up their affair between them; all shall return to Us. 93
