And Nuh, when he cried aforetime, so We answered him, and delivered him and his followers from the great calamity. 76 and helped him against the nation who had belied Our signs. They were an evil nation; We drowned them all. 77 And (remember) Dawud (David) and Sulaiman (Solomon), when they gave judgement in the case of the field in which the sheep of certain people had pastured at night and We were witness to their judgement. 78 To Solomon We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter: to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with David: it was We Who did (all these things). 79 And We taught him the art of making the coats of mail for you that it may protect you from your violence; are ye then thankful? 80 And unto Sulaiman We subjected the wind, strongly raging, running at his command toward the land wherein We had placed Our blessing; and of evrything We are the knowers. 81 We subdued the devils who would dive into the sea for him and perform other tasks for Solomon. We kept them in his service. 82 ۞ And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful." 83 We heard his prayer and relieved his suffering, We restored to him his family, doubling their number as an act of Our grace, and as a reminder for the worshippers. 84 (Remember) Ishmael, Edris and Dhu'l-Kifl. They were men of fortitude, 85 And they were admitted to Our grace. Verily they were among the doers of good. 86 AND [remember] him of the great fish when he went off in wrath, thinking that We had no power over him! But then heeded out in the deep darkness [of his distress]: "There is no deity save Thee! Limitless art Thou in Thy glory! Verily, I have done wrong!" 87 So We heard his prayer and delivered him from sorrow. Thus shall We deliver the true believers. 88 And Zakariyya! recall what time he cried unto his Lord: my Lord! leave me not solitary, though Thou art the best of heirs. 89 So We heard him and gave him John, and cured his wife (of barrenness). These were men who vied in good deeds with one another, and prayed to Us with love and awe, and were meek before Us. 90 And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples. 91 Lo! this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me. 92 But (later generations) cut off their affair (of unity), one from another: (yet) will they all return to Us. 93
