And Noah, when he cried of old, We heard his prayer and saved him and his household from the great affliction. 76 And delivered him from the people who denied Our revelations. Lo! they were folk of evil, therefor did We drown them all. 77 David and Solomon were trying to settle the case of the people's sheep that grazed in a corn-field at night. We witnessed their decree in that matter. 78 and We made Solomon to understand it, and unto each gave We judgment and knowledge. And with David We subjected the mountains to give glory, and the birds, and We were doers. 79 And We taught him the art of making coats of mail to shield you from each other's violence. Will you not be grateful even then? 80 And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind, blowing forcefully, proceeding by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And We are ever, of all things, Knowing. 81 We also subjected to him some of the jinn who dived for him in the sea and performed other tasks; We kept a watch over them. 82 ۞ AND [remember] Job, when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Affliction has befallen me: but Thou art the most merciful of the merciful!" 83 We accepted his prayer and removed the affliction from him, and We not only restored to him his family but as many more with them as a mercy from Us and as a lesson to the worshippers. 84 And (We bestowed the same favour) upon Ishmael, Idris and Dhu al-Kifl, for they were all steadfast. 85 And We admitted them to Our Mercy. Verily, they were of the righteous. 86 And Dhul Nun -- when he went forth enraged and thought that We would have no power over him; then he called out in the darkness, 'There is no god but Thou. Glory be to Thee! I have done evil.' 87 So We responded to him and delivered him from the grief and thus do We deliver the believers. 88 Zachariah prayed, "Lord, do not leave me alone without offspring, although you are the best heir". 89 So We answered him, and We bestowed on him Yahya and We made sound for him his spouse. Verily they were wont to vie with one another in good deeds and to call upon us with longing and dread, and they were ever before us meek. 90 And (remember) she who guarded her chastity [Virgin Maryam (Mary)], We breathed into (the sleeves of) her (shirt or garment) [through Our Ruh - Jibrael (Gabriel)], and We made her and her son ['Iesa (Jesus)] a sign for Al-'Alamin (the mankind and jinns). 91 Lo! this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me. 92 But they split up their affair between them; all shall return to Us. 93
