Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Light (Al-Noor) before The Hypocrites (Al-Munaafeqoon)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ O people, fear your Lord; indeed the earthquake of the Last Day is a tremendous thing. 1 on the day when you behold it, every suckling woman shall neglect the child she has suckled, and every pregnant woman shall deposit her burden, and thou shalt see mankind drunk, yet they are not drunk, but God's chastisement is terrible. 2 And among people are some who argue concerning Allah without knowing, and blindly follow every rebellious devil. 3 For him it is decreed that whoso taketh him for friend, he verily will mislead him and will guide him to the punishment of the Flame. 4 O MEN! If you are in doubt as to the [truth of] resurrection, [remember that,] verily, We have created [every one of] you out of dust, then out of a drop of sperm, then out of a germ-cell, then out of an embryonic lump complete [in itself] and yet incomplete so that We might make [your origin] clear unto you. And whatever We will [to be born] We cause to rest in the [mothers'] wombs for a term set [by Us,] and then We bring you forth as infants and [allow you to live] so that [some of] you might attain to maturity: for among you are such as are caused to die [in childhood,] just as many a one of you is reduced in old age to a most abject state, ceasing to know anything of what he once knew so well. And [if, O man, thou art still in doubt as to resurrection, consider this:] thou canst see the earth dry and lifeless - and [suddenly,] when We send down waters upon it, it stirs and swells and puts forth every kind of lovely plant! 5 This is so, because Allah is the Reality: it is He Who gives life to the dead, and it is He Who has power over all things. 6 And because the Hour will come, there is no doubt thereof; and because Allah will raise those who are in the graves. 7 And of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening book [from Him], 8 With his neck turned away from the truth, in order to deceive from the way of Allah; for him is disgrace in this world and on the Day of Resurrection We shall make him taste the punishment of fire. 9 [God will say],"This is the reward of your misdeeds. God is not unjust to His servants." 10

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
