The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Prosperous are the believers, 1 Those who humble themselves in their prayers; 2 and who turn away from all that is frivolous, 3 and who are intent on inner purity; 4 those who safeguard their chastity 5 Except from their wives or the legal bondwomen that they possess, for then there is no blame upon them. 6 But those who covet more than this will be transgressors; 7 those who are true to their trust, 8 and who guard their prayers [from all worldly intent]. 9 It is they, they who shall be the inheritors 10 Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever). 11 Verily We created man from a product of wet earth; 12 then We made him into a drop of life-germ, then We placed it in a safe depository, 13 and then We create out of the drop of sperm a germ-cell, and then We create out of the germ-cell an embryonic lump, and then We create within the embryonic lump bones, and then We clothe the bones with flesh - and then We bring [all] this into being as a new creation: hallowed, therefore, is God, the best of artisans! 14 And then, behold! after all this, you are destined to die; 15 and then on the Day of Resurrection you shall certainly be raised up. 16 And certainly We made above you seven heavens; and never are We heedless of creation. 17 And We send down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We cause it to settle in the earth, and most surely We are able to carry it away. 18 Then We produce for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you and whereof ye eat; 19 Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food. 20 And most surely there is a lesson for you in the cattle: We make you to drink of what is in their bellies, and you have in them many advantages and of them you eat, 21 and you ride on them as you do in ships. 22
